Breakfast, lunch, dinner along with 2 snacks- mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Consume a small amount of protein at each meal as well as mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Protein can help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce food cravings. Don't drink your calories. Calories in fruit drinks, soda pop, sports drinks add up very quickly. Reach for 8 8oz glasses of water each day. Add fresh squeezed lemon or lime for added flavour.
Move every day. Find reasons to exercise. Clean the house with enthusiasm and move with greater motion. Turn up the music and dance with the kids or your spouse. When shopping, do a few extra laps around the mall. Carry your purchases longer as part of some weight bearing exercises. Even while watching tv, get a few hand weights and work your arms during commercials. Practice patience, not perfection...the excess body weight did not appear overnight and it will not disappear overnight. Aim for a healthy 2lb weight loss per week and if you have a bad day (or week, or month), don't beat yourself up, just start eating well again and aim for a healthy lifestyle!!!!!! Make it a healthy habit!
