Hazardous chemicals are found in the tissue of nearly every person on Earth and exposure to them has been linked to a vast number of health issues, diseases like cancer, reproductive problems, birth defects and many other chronic diseases.
The evidence of contamination continues to grow. Certain fish contain high levels of mercury and dioxin. Water supplies contain synthetic hormones. The global food chain is contaminated with various toxic chemicals including DDT, PCB’s, phthalates and other pesticides including organ chlorine. There is no denying that modern technologically advances in medical equipment and diagnostic imaging has grown and flourished. However, it appears that same modern technology has failed us in regards to preventative health care as it continues to use and approve these hazardous man made chemicals, (often derivatives of products like nerve gas and ammunitions) in our food supply and environment.
It is important to be aware of these industrial chemicals in our life and understand the importance of reducing contact with them along with natural detoxification methods to support our organs of elimination and the part they place in removing these toxins from our body.
According to the WWF (World Wildlife Federation) global chemical production has escalated from approximately one million tonnes a year in 1930 to some 400 million tonnes in 2000.
Cumulative Effects
It has been a powerfully held belief that “the dose makes the poison”. In other words, any toxic substance requires a large amount to be ingested or in contact with in order for it to cause any great harm. Countless experiments have been done to test the “safety” of chemicals in use and their amount required for “safe use”. Unfortunately this has lulled many of us into a false sense of security. Much research today shows that repeated, be it low dose, exposures to modern day chemicals (cleaners, synthetic materials; flooring, furniture, plastics, pesticides, hormones, synthetic air fresheners, preservatives found in pre-packaged foods and in personal care products, etc) have a greater number of toxic effects on the body than previously considered.
