Inflammation and Curcumin: A Recap
By now you have heard of Curcumin for inflammation but let’s recap. Research is showing that chronic inflammation may be the common factor in many diseases, but don’t think of inflammation just as a sore joint, it is much more than this. An inflammatory response in the body is a necessary and typical response to an injury, and once the agent or pathogen that caused your body to go into protection
mode is removed, the inflammatory response should go back to a reasonable level. What is being discovered today is that those specialized T-cells that step in to solve the temporary problem or illness don’t call off the immune system, leaving you with chronic or heightened inflammation in the body. If your body remains in an inflammatory state over time, it can be the underlying causative factor in many diseases such as heart and cardiovascular diseases, cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, digestive disorders (crohn's, IBS, acid reflux, candidiasis) and bone and joint disorders (arthritis). There are many contributing factors to chronic inflammation from the foods you consume (hydrogenated fats, sugar, conventional meats, dairy & processed foods), environmental toxins, chronic stress and one you may not yet know is bad gut health.

Along with the research on chronic inflammation, there is also growing evidence on the benefits of turmeric or curcumin (as a supplement) to help reduce inflammation. The anti-inflammatory power of Turmeric comes from one compound in particular called “Curcumin.” It comes from its ability to inhibit the body's production of inflammatory signalling compounds. Using Curcumin can help slow the body's production of eicosanoids (inflammatory compounds) to bring levels back to normal, and as a result, chronic systemic inflammation in the body significantly decreases.
Hot New Curcumin for Pain!
There is no shortage of different forms of Curcumin in supplements or Turmeric powders and teas (Turmeric is sort of like the whole plant version of which one key component is Curcumin) but choosing can be downright confusing. We suggest that you consider powdered turmeric supplements as an ideal way to fortify and heighten the nutritional power of your daily foods and drinks, (for example in smoothies and soups). If you want to try a Curcumin supplement look for reputable brands that use high-quality extracts.
To step up your game with Curcumin supplements consider a newer version of Curcumin that has been discovered here in Canada. Purica makes a Curcumin version called PURICA Curcumin Extra Strength - powered by BDM30™. “Powered by BDMC30™ is the newest form of Curcumin that is undergoing early studies for its highly concentrated form of Curcumin, which is showing to be 30 times stronger than other curcumin supplements. How is this possible? A good quality curcumin extract is standardized to 95% extract, (three curcuminoids make up the 95% concentration). Depending on the manufacturing of Curcumin, these three forms of curcuminoid proportions may fluctuate, which can affect your results. With BDMC30, they have studied each one of the individual components to determine which ones provide the best health benefits for pain and inflammation and then have the strands isolated and extracted so that each capsule you take of BDMC30 is standardized to deliver better results and work on more pathways of pain inflammation, consistently providing more therapeutic effects. The product is a bit pricey, but you need to take a lot less to achieve the same results for the relief of sore muscles and joints.
